Below is a feature article I wrote academically to highlight a charity program that a local restaurant conducts each month. Writing this feature article allowed me to explore a journalistic writing style that incorporates research with storytelling. I used my interpersonal skills to make connections and build trust with the owner and employees of the restaurant while conducting interviews. I will use these skills to build relationships with sources at media outlets to secure coverage for company promotion.
Pennsylvania Dutch Restaurant Owner Gives Back to Community
This feature article was a profile focused on the owner of Deitsch Eck Restaurant and the Plate It Forward program he conducts every month to give money to charity. While conducting research on the article, I interviewed the owner of the restaurant and two employees to understand the Plate It Forward program and the work environment from different perspectives. I will use these communication skills to conduct interviews for company articles.
